PROJECTS    Municipal
City of Fort Worth 2004 CIP, Street Maintenance Project WSM-M

Fort Worth, Texas

The Street Maintenance project was located in a residential neighborhood in southwest Fort Worth, consisting of the reconstruction of 5,140 linear feet of existing asphalt roadway with new 28 feet wide concrete paving including curbs, walks, drives and drainage improvements. Utility improvements included the replacement of 3,266 linear feet of 6 inch water mains with new 8 inch PVC water mains and 6,060 linear feet of 6 inch sewer mains with new 8 inch PVC sanitary sewer mains.

The greatest challenge of this project consisted of two roadways separated by an open channel with documented flooding at both ends.  MULTATECH's design provided lowpoints at several locations with a transverse roadway section toward the open channel and reconstructed the existing concrete flumes to drain the street. Existing storm drain systems were re-sized to current city design standards and expanded for additional capacity. Included in the drainage work was extensive coordination with DeOtte Engineering for the open channel and culvert improvements under a separate contract.

Full construction documents were provided including paving, utilities, drainage, pavement cross sections, technical specifications, erosion control, traffic control and detour plans, TxDOT permitting, assistance during bidding, public meeting involvement and pre-construction meeting.
