City of Fort Worth Seventh Street Grade Crossing Review
Fort Worth, Texas
MULTATECH assisted the City of Fort Worth with the establishment of a Quiet Zone along the Fort Worth and Western Railroad (FWWR) from Museum Way to 7th Street. Funded by a local developer, the project comprised of the installation of 2-Quadrant Gates and median barriers at Museum Way and FWWR and 4-Quadrant Gates at 7th Street and FWWR. The integrated Quiet Zone system included Exit Gate Management Systems (EGMS) and Integrated Active Vehicle Detection at both crossings, a backup Wayside Horn System (WHS), and Quiet Zone Confirmation Signals for the locomotive engineers.
We provided a review of the developer’s and railroad signal contractor’s plans to ensure compliance with current FRA, MUTCD, AREMA, and FWWR criteria, construction inspection services to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications, and Certification of Completed Work that equipment was installed correctly and signal systems were functioning properly. We also assisted in developing a Community Facilities Agreement (CFA) between Fort Worth and the developer to govern the establishment of the Quiet Zone.
